Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks a progressive and strategically-minded Vice President of Information Technology to serve as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Institute. Reporting to the President, this Cabinet- level position will provide information technology leadership as the Institute implements its strategic plan and beyond. This individual will play a critical role in several new web-based initiatives, and in creating a more robust online educational presence.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology offers degrees in engineering, science and mathematics. For 15 consecutive years, the Institute has been named the #1 engineering college in its class by US News and World Report. Enrollments are at record levels with over 2200 undergraduates and 100 graduate students enrolled in Fall, 2013.

This technology rich educational environment provides opportunities to the next Vice President of Information Technology that are unique among institutions of comparable size. The network is based primarily on Juniper equipment with 10Gbps connections between two data center core routers. Rose-Hulman is a wireless campus with 300 Aruba security switches and access points campus wide. The Institute is also a participant in the higher education I-Light Network, a state-wide fiber optic network that connects to all major national research networks.

The campus is primarily a Windows-based campus with all students carrying Institute-selected laptops and uses Moodle as its learning management system. The enterprise resource planning software is Ellucian Banner (Linux/Oracle Platform) with migration to XE. In addition, there are several other departmental and specialized systems that are supported.

The ideal candidate will have twelve or more years of academic information technology experience, a minimum of seven years of managerial and strategic leadership experience, and command of best practices in the expansion and evolution of online learning. The ideal candidate will also have a positive, constituent service- focused approach in working with faculty, staff, and students to serve both academic and administrative needs. A minimum of a M.S. degree in a related field is required, Ph.D. preferred.
