The School of Nursing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks a full time 12-month faculty member for a tenure earning position as Assistant .

The School of Nursing offers the BSN, MSN and DNP degree in nursing and embraces the shared governance model as well as Boyer's Model of scholarship. This position is effective June 1, 2018.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The holder of this chair will be an Advanced Practice Nurse with certification as either a Family Nurse Practitioner whose focus is in Gerontology or an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. This individual will have a Master's of Science in Nursing and a Doctorate in Nursing or related field or is currently enrolled in a doctoral program.
The Chair will teach appropriate coursework focusing on Gerontology at the University and other courses as needed.
The Chair will assist in developing the SON's program of simulation in geriatric care using both standardized and simulated patients throughout the School. End of life/palliative care will be a thread throughout the appropriate programs in the SON.
The Chair will work with other departments in CHEPS, at UTC and area agencies including acute and long term care facilities to identify interprofessional opportunities for geriatric focused initiatives. Examples may be gero/psych rotations, and interprofessional grand rounds for students.
The Chair will work with the SON and interprofessional teams across campus to offer outreach into the community for the geriatric population. Health promotion and disease prevention activities for geriatrics will be a focus and may include but are not limited to interprofessional health fairs, fall prevention programs, and support for home care providers.
The Chair will research best practices to improve the health outcomes of geriatric patients in the area.
