Center for Biomedical Image Computing and Analytics (CBICA) is seeking an system administrator (SAGE II) to add to our IT team supporting researchers in biomedical image analysis. You can make a direct contribution to medical and scientific research by helping maintain and improve the desktop computing environment and supporting users in the Center's growing HPC facility, all while working with smart people in a great environment. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies, with mentoring and guidance to help you to develop deep expertise in areas of interest, particularly in HPC cluster support and administration.

Job Responsibilities

Center for Biomedical Image Computing and Analytics (CBICA) is seeking an system administrator (SAGE II) to add to our IT team supporting researchers in biomedical image analysis. You can make a direct contribution to medical and scientific research by helping maintain and improve the desktop computing environment and supporting users in the Center's growing HPC facility, all while working with smart people in a great environment. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies, with mentoring and guidance to help you to develop deep expertise in areas of interest, particularly in HPC cluster support and administration.

The candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, graduate students, research staff, and other IT staff.

Work related tasks include: automating deployment and updates of desktop systems; coordinating hardware repairs; recommending and tracking software & hardware; performing technical consulting & end-user support for both desktop systems and our HPC cluster.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required (Computer Science or related fields preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years professional Linux system administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with installation and use of Windows 10 and Mac OSX
  • Organization skills and judgement enabling you to work independently
  • Linux scripting (BASH)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with investigators and staff with a wide range of technical knowledge


Preferred Skills
  • Perl, Python
  • Experience on an HPC system
  • HA cluster experience (PCS preferred)
  • moderate Windows and Mac OS X administration
  • Unix/Windows/AD interoperability and CIFS file sharing

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
