Sorin Society, Associate Director


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Sorin Society, Associate Director.

The Associate Director, Sorin Society, will be the leader responsible for delivering revenue and participation performance for the Sorin Society, $25 million and 8,500 members, respectively, for 2018 with the expectation of significant growth over the next few years. The Associate Director will develop and implement, with the support of the AGSM team, the strategic and tactical plans required to achieve the goals of the Sorin Society. The strategic requirements of this role are: definition of a 3-5 year growth plan for Sorin, development of an annual marketing cycle for the Sorin Society, the definition of long-term donor value propositions, donor and prospect profiles based on analytics, identification of growth stategies by segment (Alumni, Parents, Friends, etc), go to market plans for both assigned (in leadership or annual givng portfolios) and unassigned donors and prospect, and identification and implementation of game changing elements of the Sorin offering and experience to achieve growth goals. The tactical responsibilities of this position include: development of an effective revenue and membership forecast using analytics, the establishment of a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly operating rhythm to actively track achievement of results and program activities, establishment of agile workplace team constructs with participants from AGSM and other partner organizations (with teams often numbering 10 or more participants), project leadership for campaigns and communications plans, development of marketing materials, design and implementation of Sorin Society events for donors. Partnering with AGSM team members and other partners across campus will be critical to success, so influencing skills are key. Identification of revenue targets based on new, renewal, upgrade and recapture of Sorin members based on segmentation of prospects and donors will be part of the forecasting and long-term planning effort. Familiarity with all communication channels will be critical, including familiary with email, mail, web, social, print and other mediums. This role will lead the development of strategy and creative briefs,while working to ensure a consistent message. The Associate Director serves as the primary liaison between the Sorin Society and the operations team (coordinating multi-channel projects), marketing vendors, field fundraisers, and other internal partners to execute the tactical elements of the plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong program and business management background, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to use analytics to drive strategy and tactics, experience driving innovation in organizations and solutions, strong influencing skills, and a track record of making their numbers and executing to plan in a business, enterprise or fund management environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: As the leader of the Sorin Society, the Associate Director will be asked to serve as the leader for projects that are coordinated across multiple funds and segments. Large scale project management roles the Associate Director may be asked to lead include the Winter Campaign, elements of Notre Dame Day, and other key fundraising events or initiatives based on the overall priorities of AGSM and Development as a whole.

  • Be knowledgeable of current annual giving fund best practices across higher educaiton and other relevant segments; benchmark with peer institutions and best in class organizations. Develop creative new ways to improve Sorin Society fund offerings while focusing on specific segments and designing communication using different channels to be successful.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Advanced degree in Business or Program Management preferred with experience or coursework in Marketing, Analytics, Journalism, or Entrepreneurial Areas
  • 5 to 6 years of experience
  • Ability to lead complex business and project management teams to achieve revenue and performance goals while meeting budget.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to work in an agile environment and to lead through periods of ambiguity if necessary.
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to understand revenue and marketing cycle history and future opportunity.
  • Strategic marketing experience including segmentation, value proposition development, channel selection, planning and execution of marketing campaigns including go to market plans.
