Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,104 - $4,309 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $4,104 - $7,425 per month

This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
The Marketing Strategist serves as a key member of the University Brand Strategy and Marketing team and works collaboratively to achieve the mission of the division o inspire and increase philanthropy for the University.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing, the Marketing Strategist will play a critical role in executing the university marketing plan to shape and manage the University's brand, build awareness, inspire engagement and philanthropy, and position the University regionally and nationally. The incumbent serves a strategic role in the development of University-wide marketing and philanthropic campaigns. Target audiences include: the campus community, prospective students, alumni, opinion leaders, academic peers, donors and the general public, locally, nationally and globally. The Marketing Strategist supports day-to-day marketing operations by researching, writing, formatting and reporting information and materials to elevate brand awareness and the institutional reputation of the University. The Marketing Strategist works closely with the Associate Vice President of Development, Directors of Development and others to write and edit development (fundraising) proposals and projects. Writing assignments include major gift funding proposals and customized communications to the donor community.

Key Qualifications
  • Incumbent must possess excellent writing, editing and communication skills, be highly organized and possess keen time-management skills to manage, track and meet various deadlines.
  • Must work fairly autonomously, exercise sound judgment and discretion, and maintain the highest standards of professionalism while working with a wide range of individuals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the role of communications and marketing in development/fundraising.
  • Must be a strategic thinker, committed to the practice of marketing and communications to shape and advance the institutional brand.
  • Expert knowledge of the latest communication methods that span beyond traditional mediums.

    Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Psychology, Public Relations, Journalism, English or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of four years hands-on marketing experience in internship or professional position.
  • Minimum of four years of copywriting experience in internship or professional position

This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
