Job Summary
Apply expertise in machine learning and natural language processing to develop cutting-edge language learning and assessment products and solutions.

Responsibilities*

Apply natural language processing/machine learning/deep learning methods to investigate and develop features and solutions for language learning and assessment products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on prototyping, evaluation, operationalization, and continuous improvement of language learning and assessment products and solutions.
Design, create, clean, annotate, and manage rich data sets for natural language processing/machine learning/deep learning analysis.
Document, present, publish, and educate on the results of research and development work to internal and external specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Monitor and assess new technologies and their potential for new products and services.
Other contributions commensurate with level and experience (e.g. service on committees, coordination with external consultants, etc.)

Required Qualifications*

MS in computer science or related field, or equivalent expertise in natural language processing/machine learning.
Proficiency in a programming language such as R or Python.
Proficiency in use of machine learning/deep learning tools such as TensorFlow, Keras.
Problem solving, flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity.
Ability to communicate well with and present to a variety of audiences, particularly of technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects.
Five years of experience in natural language processing/machine learning.

Desired Qualifications*

PhD in computer science or related field.
Experience in implementation of machine learning in commercial products.
Experience in working with data from (English) language learners.
