Job Summary
In this position, the selected candidate will teach ALA 105: Digital Research: Critical concepts and Strategies. The expected percentage effort for this half-term course will be 22.22%.

This hands-on computer lab will help students lay a solid foundation for success in all current and future interdisciplinary academic research. With an emphasis on the wealth of digital resources now available, the material focuses on information discovery and management skills, expands knowledge of scholarly sources, and promotes critical thinking. Specific topics include resource availability, source selection, search strategies, content evaluation, referencing, and academic integrity. The interactive format allows students to learn via database searches, group discussion, and case studies. Students work individually and collaboratively on reports, research assignments, and projects.

Classes are held weekly, beginning January 8, 2020 through February 25, 2020 (Winter Term A). The course is housed within the Applied Liberal Arts (ALA) division of the College.

Responsibilities*
The candidate will be expected to provide classroom instruction to undergraduate students in an interdisciplinary liberal arts program. Lecturers are expected to attend course meetings, hold office hours, and handle routine matters related to instruction.

Required Qualifications*
  • ALA-accredited Master's degree or an equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience
  • Enthusiasm for working with undergraduate students and demonstrated commitment to meeting their information and research needs
  • Experience teaching library instruction sessions
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, communication & presentation skills
  • Knowledge of information literacy competencies and strong understanding of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Demonstrated experience with information literacy curriculum development
  • Education, study, or experience in instructional design, education theory, or similar field of study
