Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Tutoring Center at Everett Community College is seeking a culturally competent, student centered individual to join our dynamic tutoring team.
The Tutoring Center has a goal of creating and maintaining a diverse team of educators skilled in offering students richly varied perspectives and methods of knowing and learning. This position works 9 months per year, 30 hours per week.
Typical duties:
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated passion for and commitment to serving students across a diverse spectrum of backgrounds.
2. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse populations.
3. Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to mentor students from a wide range of cultures and academic backgrounds.
4. Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
5. Ability to work independently, using good judgment in job related decisions.
6. Completion of at least one of the following:
- College Accounting series
- College Calculus series
- One year of college general chemistry
- One year of college physics
- One year engineering series, including statics and dynamics
7. Proficient and demonstrated skills to tutor students in College Algebra
8. Ability to distinguish between different learning styles and academic levels and deliver assistance through a variety of formats.
9. Proficient oral and written communication skills
10. Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a busy environment
11. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality customer service and a positive attitude.
12. Ability to work well in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Multicultural experience
One year or more tutoring experience in a community college or higher educational setting
Experience working with students with disabilities
Physical Demands:

Work Hours: 30 hours per week, 9 months per year. Schedule will be based on program needs. Tutoring Center hours are 8:00 am 7:00 pm with the potential for Saturday hours.
