Head Football Athletic Trainer, UTC Athletics–Requisition # 18000000ON

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a NCAA Division I and Southern Conference member, seeks a highly motivated professional for the position of Head Football Athletic Trainer. This is a 12-month, exempt position.

Responsibilities include:
Responsible for coordination and delivery of Athletic Training and Sports medicine services for FCS Football student-athletes.
Performing assessments and providing initial care for athletic injuries. Coordinate rehabilitation with team physicians.
Communicating directly with the Head Football coach and the coaching staff as it relates to the injuries and illnesses of the student athletes.
Overseeing the other Staff Athletic Trainers assigned to the football program. Effectively communicate and collaborate with the Director of Physical Development.
Designing therapeutic intervention and establish individual exercise programs for specific conditions.
Preparing student athletes for practices and games, apply taping, special padding and bracing techniques.
Assisting in maintaining athletic training facilities and inventory of equipment and supplies.
Participating in meetings, athletic clinics, and camps.
Supervising athletic training students (must be ACI eligible).
Handling treatment scheduling, overseeing medical records, maintaining/updating rehabilitation progress reports and reporting injuries to NEXTT injury and illness data system (ensuring HIPAA compliance).
Overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the Vivature Injury and Illness Recording System for the Sports Medicine Program.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field. Must have NATABOC certification. Must be eligible for licensure in Tennessee. A minimum 10 years of athletic training experience is required. Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills. Physical effort required for practice/game preparation and positioning athlete's body during emergency care management and rehabilitation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NFL experience and Division I Football experience. Superior skills and experience with Web based Injury Tracking System.
