Job Description Summary

Selected applicants will be interviewed for Head Coach position which is a part-time coaching assignment in the Athletics Department. The sports we are looking for are Women's Soccer, Women's Water Polo, Men's and Women's Cross Country, and Men's and Women's Track and Field. The coaching assignment will be based on the San Luis Obispo Campus.

INTERCOLLEGIATE COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide comprehensive instruction, technical training and leadership to student athletes.
  • Provide leadership in supporting student athletes attainment of their educational and athletic goals.
  • Adhere to all College, conference and CCCAA statewide athletic policies, rules and regulations.
  • Represent Cuesta College at all times in regards to ethics, sportsmanship and integrity.
  • Develop a budget for the program and adhere to established athletic department spending guidelines.
  • Develop and implement a fundraising plan to supplement district funding.
  • Arrange for lodging, meals and transportation for off-campus travel to away competitions.
  • Develop a recruitment plan for student athletes coming into the program.
  • Attend monthly Athletics and Division-wide meetings.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties.


Essential Functions & Qualifications

Required:

-Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution AND two years of experience coaching Soccer, Water Polo, Cross Country, or Track and Field;

OR
-Associate's degree from an accredited institution AND six years of experience coaching Soccer, Water Polo, Cross Country, or Track and Field;

OR

OR

-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).

Also Required:
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred;
  • Teaching experience in the discipline, college level preferred;
  • Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges
