Job Summary
The GI (Gastrointestinal) Physiology Technologist provides GI diagnostic testing for a diverse patient population (neonates to geriatric), location (laboratory to operating room), and patient status (outpatient to inpatient). This wide spectrum entails a diverse technical acumen to perform, acquire, and edit high quality GI diagnostic testing. Additionally, assists in clinical research and bio-medical engineering projects. |

SUPERVISION RECEIVED |
General supervision is received from a physician or other designated official. SUPERVISION EXCERCISED Functional supervision may be exercised over students, Genetic Counselors, and support staff. |
Required Qualifications*
- A Bachelor's degree in Biological/Health Sciences or healthcare field is required.
- One year of patient care experience is required.
- Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communication is required.
- Ability to work in computer systems is required
- Previous experience working in a medical charting system is desirable.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience is desirable.
- Previous intubation experience is desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency with venipuncture including starting IV's is desirable.
- Coursework or experience with statistics is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
This position requires frequent standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients. |

Work Locations
Traveling to other GI Lab locations will be required, periodically. (NHC & BCSC)
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
