Compensation and Benefits

Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position under the CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Success Services, the Director of Career Development Center is responsible for providing leadership and management to the development and implementation of innovative career programs and services designed to support achievement of academic and career goals. The Director has oversight for all programs and initiatives which include career development, counseling, event planning, employment services, alumni services and programs, job development, recruitment services, and internship programs.

The Director of Career Development Center is charged with expanding the career services internship program and cultivating new, and sustaining current, campus and community partnerships. This position will be an advocate for the infusion of career development into co-curricular planning assistance for students across the campus. The Director of Career Development Center will coordinate communications with deans, department chairs and others to ensure career services engages the schools/colleges and departments.

This position is further charged with developing effective working relationships and building strong partnerships with corporate employers, alumni, and others. Additionally, the Director of Career Development Center will develop and implement a career development model that aligns with the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Strategic Plan.

Key Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with leading organizations or functions that deliver career services, including career development, career counseling, career planning, recruitment, employment and internships
  • Experience with program development, evaluation, budgeting, fiscal management, and human resource management
  • Sound knowledge of student development theory and sensitivity to issues and needs of students from low-income, diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of national trends in career services
  • Strong leadership and supervision skills with a proven ability to manage and lead a complex career services department

Education and Experience
  • Master's degree
  • Three to five (3-5) years of recent progressively responsible management experience in a higher education related to career services, career planning and development, recruitment and employment services.
