The University of California, Riverside invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Undergraduate Admissions. UC Riverside is home to over 21,000 students engaged in undergraduate and graduate education. The park-like campus is located in the heart of inland Southern California, and the Riverside community is steeped in a rich cultural heritage offering a dynamic mix of arts, entertainment, and outdoor opportunities. UC Riverside is located sixty mile east of Los Angeles, and is within an hours drive of Southern California beaches, mountain ski resorts, and desert parks.





 





The Director of Undergraduate Admissions is a strategic and dynamic leader responsible for planning and leading a broad based undergraduate admissions program that recruits, admits, and enrolls an academically talented and diverse pool of California resident, domestic non-California resident, and international students in the fulfillment of the Universitys annual enrollment goals. The position is responsible for program quality and integrity, resource acquisition and allocation, effective development of marketing and communication materials, assessment of programs and activities, and liaison with various campus and external organizations. The Director is expected to devise and implement innovative strategies for the recruitment and admission of undergraduate students that achieve campus goals and enhance the prominence of UC Riverside nationally and internationally. The Director oversees 35 staff with 4 direct reports, and manages a departmental budget of approximately 3 million dollars. The Director must be an innovative and highly collaborative leader, possess a passion for the profession, be able to prioritize numerous projects, and incorporate best practices into the organizational culture.





 





A bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience in progressively responsible positions leading and managing undergraduate admissions is required. An advanced or other professional degree preferred. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the ability to lead and implement organizational strategic planning; proactively analyze complex situations, work creatively, and use quantitative and qualitative tools to inform admissions/enrollment decision-making strategies; synthesize information quickly, multi-task, and effectively work with ambiguity and shifting priorities; work effectively and collaboratively with diverse populations; represent the University in a professional and authoritative manner on complex student recruitment and admissions issues, including international student recruitment; supervise, lead, and support a large professional and administrative staff; exercise strong interpersonal skills including diplomacy, listening, and negotiation; promote the University in a manner that garners public support for UCR; manage fiscal resources through budget planning and fund management; demonstrate outstanding oral and written communication skills to effectively present information, make persuasive speeches on controversial or complex topics, and appropriately influence outcomes; maintain strong and collaborative relationships with key audiences including the public, senior administrators, deans and faculty, alumni, media, students, parents, and high school/community college staff; apply local, state, and federal policies and regulations in the development of departmental policies, and serve as the principal resource for such to all entities. UC Riverside will be undergoing a migration to Banner as its student information system, and the selected candidate should have the technical background to assist with this process.
