Responsibilities
The Counseling Center is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time, 9 month position that includes a comprehensive benefits package. This position is a tenure-track faculty position, where candidates will provide culturally sensitive clinical and counseling services to currently enrolled students. Job responsibilities include:
  • Provide short-term counseling to University students.
  • Facilitate group counseling.
  • Develop and present outreach and psycho-educational programming.
  • Crisis Intervention and triage.
  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate trainees.
  • Engage in scholarly presentations and/or research, continuing preparation and study, contributing to student growth and development, and providing service to the university and community. (see Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement)


Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or counseling psychology or closely related field from an APA accredited program or equivalent thereof completed by September 1, 2019.
  • Must be a Licensed Psychologist (or eligible for licensure as a Psychologist) in the state of Minnesota.
  • Experience providing short-term personal counseling, individual assessment, crisis intervention, consultation, and outreach in a university or college counseling center.
  • Interest and investment in providing multiculturally competent services.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest and experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Interest and experience in facilitating groups, including a men's support group.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and underrepresented populations.
  • Interest and/or experience with issues related to men and masculinity.
  • Experience with providing professional presentations.
  • Published refereed research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

The Counseling Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS). The Center is staffed with six (6) psychologists. The Center is a training site for practicum students from various disciplines including: clinical and counseling psychology, counseling and student personnel, and social work. The mission of the Counseling Center is to provide support to students in resolving personal, social, educational, and mental health concerns in order to increase student success and retention in the university within a welcoming environment that appreciates diversity and pursues social justice.
