Collection Specialist (Library & Museum Professional 1 - MR08)

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is looking for a Collection Specialist to join the Acquisitions & Content Management unit within the Collection Services Department of UTC Library. The Collection Specialist supports Librarians within the Acquisitions & Content Management unit by helping to manage the information lifecycle of print and electronic materials. This person in this position will be part of a team that works to develop, maintain, and provide access to collections that continue to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the UTC community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with acquisition of library materials, both physical and electronic
- Assist with maintenance of physical and electronic collections throughout the year
- Prepare and interpret reports with complex data
- Perform copy cataloging
- Process renewals
- Manage course reserves
- Manage day-to-day operations for interlibrary loan and the delivery of digitization requests
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Ability to utilize a library service platform (LSP) or integrated library system (ILS) to complete tasks associated with the acquisition, description, management, or access/discovery of physical or electronic materials
- Knowledge of research methods and tools such as online databases, web-based resources, and other reference sources
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to manage projects and prioritize work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to apply customer service skills to engage with colleagues and the UTC community in a productive and positive manner
- Ability to present information from a variety of sources in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to learn and adapt to new online systems
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and problems and proactively contribute ideas towards a solution

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (equivalent combination of relevant experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis for education)
- One (1) year of professional or paraprofessional experience in a library environment performing acquisitions, cataloging, electronic resource management, resource sharing, and/or circulation tasks
Preferred qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of professional or paraprofessional experience in a library environment performing acquisitions, cataloging, electronic resource management, resource sharing, and/or circulation tasks
