Job Description:

 

POSITION: Clinic Manager-Dental Programs


RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Dental Programs Clinic Manager is a knowledgeable professional responsible for managing the day to day operations of the dental programs clinical facility which includes: Inventory control, maintenance and purchase of clinic equipment, organization and maintenance of clinical records, order and distribution of student instruments; provide input to faculty on clinic procedures including clinic manuals. Serve as OSHA lead implementer including maintenance of OSHA manual and MDS sheets. Serve as a liaison between students and/or faculty and administration with regard to clinic operations. Serve as a liaison between administration and government agencies with regards to clinic operations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide inventory control. This requires the maintenance and purchase of clinic and laboratory equipment and supplies with MCC requirements. Recommending repairs for equipment, and input into the budgetary process.
• Maintain and repair clinic and laboratory equipment
• Act as cost center manager for dental hygiene, dental assisting, and dental lab technology programs. Contribute to budget planning, fiscal reporting and grant management.
• Maintain and update database management software
• Set up and maintain computerized record keeping system.
• Provide training and education to our diverse students, faculty and staff including
1. Technology
2. Database management software
3. High tech equipment
• Develop and revise training tools and educational materials on system.
• Assign clinic duties and rotations for students. Disperse and replace student’s instruments and supplies. Provide orientation of the operational aspects of clinic at the beginning of each semester.
• Manage work study students, front desk manager and part-time clinic receptionist
• Make recommendations regarding revisions of the clinical policy and procedures manual. Meet regularly with the dental hygiene department chairperson, dental assisting program coordinator, and Academic Clinic Coordinator as needed to review and discuss clinical operations.
• Coordinate the opening and closing of the clinic each semester. Provide orientations to the operational aspects of the clinic and OSHA updates to the faculty.
• Implement and maintain written clinic policies and procedures in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration with regard to both the standard for Blood borne pathogens and Hazard Communication Standard.
• Implement and maintain policies regarding the Radiation Control Program of Mass Public Health including maintaining the dosimetry badges and records. Serve as the liaison and to work with the Rad Lab Coordinator to update the Department’s Ionizing Radiology Policy.
• Maintain OSHA materials/ Manuals including MSDS sheets
• Organize clinical facility and provide support for the administration of the Northeast Regional Examinations.
• Serve as liaison between students, faculty, administration and government agencies regarding clinical operations and student services.
• Anticipate and resolve student and faculty issues.
• Provide assistance to faculty and students during clinic sessions with dental and computerized equipment.
• Act as a mentor and work closely with students on sterilization and aseptic techniques.
• Attend department meetings
• Support the Dental Assisting and Dental Lab Technology Program coordinators with clinic operation including ordering of supplies.
• Assist the Workforce Development Division in planning of Dental Hygiene continuing education programs at Middlesex Community College. Order and organize supplies and select student assistant.
• Coordinate clinical in-service workshops for faculty and students during Professional Enrichment Period and orientation sessions(e.g. introduction of new equipment)
• Assist in student clinical orientation sessions and instrument distribution.
• Work with Department Chair and Clinic Team Leader in scheduling outside patient groups into clinical sessions.
• Manage computer programs as they become incorporated into the clinic management systems

 


Requirements:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current Certified Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Hygienist in Massachusetts in good standing.
• Bachelor degree in Health, Education, Business, or related field; and 3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Knowledge of Dental Hygiene or Dental Clinical Practice.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with colleagues in a collaborative environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of OSHA, CDC and infection control standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, computer and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated self starter.
• Experience working with individuals of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience as Clinic Manager in a Dental or Dental Hygiene Program
• Experience with Dentrix patient management software
• Experience with dental equipment maintenance and management
• Experience with inventory management and ordering
• Experience with budget and grant management

 


Additional Information:

 

SALARY: Grade 4 ($45,940 - $66,613). Starting salary within this range is dependent upon experience in a closely related position, but is anticipated to be no higher than low $50's
