Job Description

The Associate Director, Young Alumni Giving, Annual Giving reports to the Director of Annual Giving Programs and is responsible for the implementation and oversight of programs to enhance volunteer engagement and promote increased giving from undergraduate alumni, with an emphasis on strategies to increase giving among Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) and students to Boston College. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the GOLD Leadership Council, a group of 100+ volunteers to increase giving and engagement of young alumni through events and peer to peer fundraising initiatives. Annually recruit, train, and motivate a diverse volunteer committee and class leaders to drive giving through a robust year-round outreach solicitation program. Collaborate with partners in Alumni Relations to identify and promote event programming and engagement initiatives with young alumni.
  • Assisting with the development of strategy and implementation of the annual fundraising plan of young alumni communications. This role is a key partner with direct marketing staff to execute giving campaigns across priority undergraduate audiences for alumni participation initiatives as well as recognition of GOLD leadership donors. Provide consistent and up-to-date reports on results and successfully conveys and implements improvement recommendations for volunteer and/or solicitation strategy.
  • Working with volunteers both during and outside of reunion years to personally solicit annual gifts. Collaborate with annual giving officers to drive leadership level giving among young alumni. The Assistant or Associate Director is expected to travel locally and regionally to solicit alumni and recruit volunteers in assigned classes.
  • Will provide functional supervision for one Assistant Director, Student Philanthropy and will provide oversight of strategy for a robust senior class giving campaign and a grant funding program.

    Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:
    Associate Director level 1: minimum 2-3 years of fundraising or directly related experience: $56,700 - $70,900
    Associate Director level 2, minimum 3-4 years of fundraising or directly related experience: $62,650 - $78,300

    Requirements

    This position requires a Bachelor's degree and, for the first level Associate Director position requires a minimum of 2-3 years professional level fundraising experience with a proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of $1,000 or more and/or directly related professional level experience, such as event planning, development or volunteer management. A higher-level Associate Director position requires a minimum of 3-4 years of professional level fundraising experience soliciting and closing gifts of $1,000 or more and professional level fundraising experience in an annual giving program, preferably in a higher education campaign environment or in comparable settings that have afforded increasing responsibility with annual giving programs and experience working directly with volunteers and donors.

    The Associate Director is expected to have excellent spoken, written and interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition in particular. Strong organizational skills and project management experience is expected as well as an ability to work well in a goal oriented and fast paced environment. Travel, evening, and weekend work is required to fulfill responsibilities. A valid driver's license is required.

    Proficiency with Google Suite applications, MS Office suite is expected. Experience with the following software is a plus: Blackbaud CRM, Evertrue Volunteer Management (or other volunteer system).
