Job Description

The Associate Dean, Graduate Programs is responsible for the development, maintenance, and on-going assessment of the curriculum and related programs of study for the graduate degrees, certificates, and other related offerings at the Woods College of Advancing Studies. The Associate Dean is a core member of the academic team and works closely with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and the Dean. They are responsible for curriculum review, academic planning and scheduling, and the development and implementation of policies and procedures that facilitate a streamlined student experience within the present and future graduate offerings within WCAS.

The position's core functions - new program development and review, academic planning and scheduling, organizing the graduate programs into a coherent division and the development and implementation of policies and procedures to facilitate student satisfaction and formation - are each directly related to student retention, re-enrollment, and progression toward graduation.

The Associate Dean of Graduate Programs will be responsible for the creation of new programming and the redesign of existing to expand the number and reach of graduate programs within Woods College based on the mission and capacity of the University and the demands of the market. They will develop new programs in coordination with industry experts, with an emphasis on content that will be offered online. They will work with program directors to create course-level competencies that are mapped to program outcomes along with appropriate assessment strategies for each program.

The Associate Dean will work closely with the Program Directors, the Dean and the Executive Director of Center for Digital Innovation in Learning to ensure that each of the graduate programs is offered in a high-quality online format. They will work with the Associate Dean for Enrollment management as well, to ensure the programs are properly marketed and that all processes support students and faculty in the online environment.

The Associate Dean will conduct ongoing evaluation of program performance, related to student outcomes, curriculum performance, budget, accreditation requirements, market demand, and external partnerships opportunities.

The Associate Dean of Graduate programs is responsible for standardizing and centralizing policies, processes and staffing across the graduate programs to ensure maximum support for all programs. They are responsible for all matters related to policies and procedures that regulate student life at the WCAS including academic issues that are connected to the student's personal or professional background from admission to graduation. The Associate Dean ensures the integrity of the admissions process for graduate students

The Associate Dean works with the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance and Associate Dean for Enrollment Management to project enrollment numbers for the Woods College of Advancing Studies (WCAS).

The WCAS is comprised of approximately 150 part-time faculty, 375 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students, and an additional 550 non-degree, special, and visiting students. Additionally, 600-800 individual day students enroll in Woods College courses per year. Approximately 1,000 students enroll in summer session courses.

Requirements

Five to ten years of experience in higher education, including direct experience working with online graduate programs, non-traditional faculty, and students. Direct experience managing teams and developing student-focused policies. Knowledge of continuing and/or professional education theory and standards, strong interpersonal communication skills, experience in dealing with complex academic and student issues, along with leadership and mentoring is required.

Terminal degree is required.
