Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice President provides leadership and direction in the Student Affairs division, is a member of the VPSA Management Team and Student Affairs Executive Committee, administers policies affecting the academic and developmental needs of students, and has direct responsibility for overseeing the Student Transitions Cluster (Financial Aid, Housing and Residence Life, New Student Programs and University Outreach) and Educational Partnerships, which includes Federal Grants (Upward Bound, Gear Up, McNair, and Educational Talent Search). Campus-wide responsibilities include collaborating with the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President of Administration and Finance, Vice President for University Advancement, Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, Vice President for Information Technology, and other units to enrich student life.

Serves on various campus and University committees and fosters an appreciation for students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. Instrumental in promoting CSUF as a Hispanic Serving Institute; Serves on committees to represent Student Affairs; Seeks grant funding sources and raise funds for scholarships; Represents CSUF at various community relations events; governmental relations; and represents the President and Vice President at various community events. Other duties as assigned.



Essential Qualifications:
Doctorate in a relevant field (counseling, psychology, higher education administration, etc.) and seven to ten years of higher education experience including both supervisory and budgetary responsibilities is required.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Special Working Conditions:
The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
