About the Position:
University Advancement serves Cal State Fullerton by building and strengthening relationships with the communities we serve to encourage advocacy, investment and support of the University, its mission, goals and programs to promote student and alumni success. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Associate Director of Development. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Associate Director of Development is responsible for individual and corporate relations within the College of Education, College of Communications and the Division of Student Affairs. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director solicits private financial support from individuals and corporations and assists in the solicitation of grant support from private foundations. Researches and identifies corporate and foundation prospects that align with fundraising priorities. Assists in providing counsel and leadership to the Dean's Leadership Council(s) and corporate boards throughout colleges and divisions. Assists in planning, marketing, implementing and managing fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events annually for the Colleges and Student Affairs Division. Additionally, the Associate Director strategically assists the Senior Director with fundraising events, individual giving identification and cultivation, donor stewardship, and prospect management responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.



Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field. A minimum of three years of fundraising experience resulting in securing individual and corporate gifts. Ability to work effectively with the Senior Director and others to research, identify, develop, and execute successful mid-range giving of $5,000 and above including proposals and solicitation strategies. Ability to design stewardship strategies for donors. Experience in managing and executing fundraising events. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Possession of superior written, project management, and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand the higher education environment. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies. Ability to travel as appropriate. Proficiency in the use of general office equipment and Windows-based personal computers. Proficiency in using administrative computing systems, MS Office applications, and other relevant software applications.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
