Assistant Professor - Special Education - Extensive Support Needs

The Department of Special Education at San José State University offers graduate level programs, including three Education Specialist Teaching Credential programs for individuals who want to teach students and young children with disabilities. We also offer a Master of Arts in Special Education and the opportunity for undergraduate students to receive a Minor in Special Education.

Our graduates are transformative educators and advocates for all children who work as change agents to improve the lives of their students by addressing issues of equity in their classrooms and schools. They also have a strong knowledge base that allows them to creatively meet the needs of a variety of student learners through the application of evidence-based practices. Most importantly, they are passionate about teaching and learning for social justice.

Our Master of Arts degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Special Education is ranked #34th in the nation and 2nd in the state for its excellence in preparing Special Education leaders.
