Job Description

The Boston College Department of Athletics, a NCAA Division 1 institution and member of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Hockey East Association is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director, Business & Travel Operations.

The Assistant Director, Business & Travel Operations is responsible for all aspects of team travel (planning, scheduling, budget management, budget forecasting and reconciliation) for all varsity sport programs (depth of responsibility depends on the sport). This position will also be tasked with assisting with recruiting travel by providing users with training on the department's travel management system and providing guidance related to flights, hotels, rentals cars, etc. Also, this position will review all recruiting travel expense reports before they enter the queue for processing. Additionally, this person will be the primary liaison for all charter air and bus companies used by our varsity programs. The position will work with various departments on campus and in the department to maintain and schedule the van fleet for team competition using proper travel regulations. The position will also be responsible for department-wide implementation of university and athletic department travel policies, procedures and guidelines.

The Assistant Director, Business & Travel Operations will work directly with all 31 intercollegiate sport programs as well as various administrative departments. In addition, the position will serve as the department's liaison with numerous significant vendors, internal BC departments, and outside constituencies including conference offices and competing institutions.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $48,900 to $61,150; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree. Experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with PeopleSoft financial system or other related financial systems is required.

This position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience within intercollegiate athletics or in a business setting. Specific experience in travel management, project management, group planning, logistics, accounting or finance is required.

Position includes both evening and weekend work demands, most often within the September to June time period. At times this position communicates between various entities on and off hours. Travel required for postseason competitions at times for extended periods.
