Job Description

Assistant Director, Office of Health Promotion, Alcohol, Drug, and Health Education

The Assistant Director (AD) of the Office of Health Promotion (OHP) will be responsible for education, prevention, and outreach in areas of alcohol and drug education, and early intervention. The AD will develop, implement, and maintain student alcohol, drug, and health programming, services, trainings, screenings, and health campaigns in areas of behavior change, education, outreach, training, health event planning, and coordination. As a trained Health Coach and conversation partner the AD will be responsible for facilitating BASICS, coordinating other educational programs, and Health Coaching interventions though conversations, and facilitating the iChoose alcohol and drug program, supervision and growth of the Connect program, administering the AlcoholEdu Program, Ongoing collaboration with the Recovery House, and budget responsibilities.

The Office of Health Promotion addresses student health needs and issues and utilizes a holistic, comprehensive and harm reduction approach to prevention and education aimed at empowering individuals to make informed, low-risk choices, emphasizing health and safety, encouraging civility and community, and fostering positive institutional and community level change. The position also serves as a referral source for student alcohol related issues. The Assistant Director of the Office of Health Promotion will work closely with all areas of Student Affairs and other departments across campus to educate students proactively. The Assistant Director will work with graduate assistants and undergraduate Health Coaches.

Salary commensurate with relevant experience.



Requirements

Education:
Master's degree preferred in SSW, Mental Health counseling, health education and promotion, higher education, or other related field; Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

  • Strong clinical, educational, prevention skills in areas of alcohol and drug education and health education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable, reliable, high ethical standards and strong work ethic
  • Experience in health promotion and building a healthier campus
  • Experience working with college age students
  • Proficient with technology and applications such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Organizational and website management experience
  • Ability to work autonomously; work as part of a team, and to take on leadership roles in project management
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to handle community members on and off campus and a variety of situations and information, staff needs, and interface with higher level administration.
  • Knowledge of health
  • Evening and Weekend work occasionally
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, strong customer service orientation
  • Warm, friendly, and enjoys working with adults and students
