Assistant Director, Accounting Services - Requisition #18000000KY

This position will serve as the Assistant Director of Accounting Services with the primary purpose of the following duties:
  • Assist with functions as provider of accounting services for campus sponsored project restricted accounts to both campus personnel and outside personnel from the various funding agencies. Ensure compliance with UT Fiscal Policy, Federal Grant guidelines, and any restrictions specific to the funding agencies in conjunction with the Director.
  • Primary developer and trainer on Grant and Contract Management both to new Accounting Services staff members and other UTC departments.
  • Serve as liaison between Accounting Services and Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and Office of Research Integrity.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training for IRIS on-boarding, financial administration, accounts payable and travel.
  • Assist the Accounting Services Director in providing financial analyses of funds and implementing best practice procedures related to grants and contracts, travel, and accounts payable.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term plans for the department.
  • Assist in the day to day management and supervision of Accounting Services staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree is required; Bachelor's degree in Business preferred. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting related field and 2 years' experience in a customer service and training environment. Three years' experience working in accounts payable, budget and in sponsored project accounting preferred. Two years' experience working as a supervisor or manager preferred.

Must have a moderate level of knowledge using Microsoft Office programs, especially in Excel, Word and Outlook, and SAP (IRIS) accounting software. Knowledge of UT Fiscal Policy especially in Accounts Payable, Travel, and Sponsored Projects is preferred. Knowledge of federal and state regulations for sponsored projects is preferred. Supervisory and office management skills are essential. Should have the ability to develop and implement training. Strong financial management skills in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and sponsored project accounting is preferred. Excellent financial reporting and planning short-term and long-term goals and objectives is essential. Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to coordinate and collaborate with departments and campus personnel is needed. Must have decision-making skills, detail-oriented and the ability to work well with others.
