About the Opportunity:
The Bouve College of Health Sciences is seeking an Assistant Dean for Clinical and Experiential Education!

Bouve College of Health Sciences is comprised of four preeminent schools of study encompassing approximately 1,000 faculty and staff, 5,000 students, and 40,000 alumni.

Please note: The primary work location for this position is the Boston MA Northeastern University Campus Location. Until our full return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process will be conducted remotely- including virtual interviews, remote onboarding and remote work. The remote nature of this position is subject to change in the future and is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required once the College and this role return to an operational status that supports it.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Dean of Clinical and Experiential Education in Bouve College of Health Sciences (BCHS) will provide leadership, vision, and oversight of required clinical education for all student populations and academic programs in the BCHS.

Clinical education refers to those credit-bearing clinical, internship, practicum or fieldwork courses offered by units within the BCHS where students engage in observation or professional practice in their discipline under the supervision of a faculty preceptor or professional supervisor. When students are assigned to sites, the terms of such arrangements are dictated by affiliation agreements between BCHS and the host site. The Assistant Dean is expected to cultivate, develop and maintain effective partnerships with clinical sites. This collaboration should be based on the following principles: mutually agreeable and beneficial relationships, valued partnership, compliance with policies and procedures relevant to clinical and experiential education, and incorporation of innovation and best practices.

The Assistant Dean will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at BCHS and will collaborate closely with the BCHS Director of Cooperative Education and unit leaders, faculty and staff to provide high-quality clinical and experiential education to students in and beyond Northeastern's global campuses. Additionally, the Assistant Dean will collaborate across the university with individuals in several offices including Chancellor.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education or related field required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a management level position in a healthcare or higher education with clinical operations setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing a culture and climate of diversity and inclusion
  • Experience as an academic program director or clinical placement director in a clinical health professions program preferred
  • Experience with academic and clinical operations software including Exxat, E-Value and the MS Office 365 suite (Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams and others)
  • Knowledge of health professions accreditation guidelines and processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision making, analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and project management skills.
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills.
  • Ability to design and work within complex systems.
  • Knowledge of current national initiatives and innovations in clinical and experiential education or equivalent.
  • Understanding of accreditation requirements in health professions education.
  • Effective team building and team-based collaboration skills.

    The candidate should demonstrate expertise in the provision of clinical education, be knowledgeable about clinical education best practices, and understand the infrastructure, systems, resources and policies necessary to positively affect clinical and experiential education opportunities for students. The position may require some travel to develop partnerships with local and national organizations and in support of initiatives in Northeastern University's global campus network.
