JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager of the School of Nursing Dean's Office, the incumbent is the primary contact and administrative support for the School of Nursing's accreditation activities, the School's Continuing Education Program, and primary administrative support for the Associate Deans of Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Affairs, who oversee undergraduate and graduate education programs. This position requires the ability to independently perform a full range of confidential and administrative support activities and work effectively with a wide variety of diverse individuals as well as collaborate with internal administrators and the School's leadership team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include but are not limited to:

Serves as the primary administrative contact for accreditation studies and other reports; coordinates the collection and development of data and information for the School and accrediting entities. Prepares reports and edits documents reflecting excellent judgment and accuracy. Leads in gathering information and materials for accreditation reporting, prepares information for dissemination, and writes documents for submission to the accrediting agency and related state board as appropriate. Responsible for identifying, monitoring, and tracking programmatic changes and reports information accordingly to the State Board of Nursing and accreditation agencies. Works with the Faculty Chair in preparing Full Faculty Agendas, identifying key dates and materials, and determining when votes are required on programmatic changes. Manages regularly scheduled external and internal surveys.

Oversees quality improvement processes of software systems (e.g. CoreElms, American Databank, Slate, Peoplesoft, etc.) used for program implementation and accreditation. Responsible for supporting the School's Continuing Education Program used for professional licensing. Works with a wide range of internal and external contacts to coordinate activities, and manages conference details and documentation as an approved certifying School for the credentialing provider.

Assists the Associate Deans with a wide range of administrative and organizational matters related to School programs and activities; participates in administrative planning and analyzes the effect of administrative and/or programmatic changes. Also provides administrative support including calendar management, travel arrangements and reimbursement, scheduling and assembling materials for meetings, committees, task forces, and conferences; and organizes and executes large events for the School such as commencement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field and three to five years of related experience OR an Associate's degree and five years of related experience
  2. Experience in an office involving faculty support
  3. Experience in administration in higher education or similar educational setting
  4. Extensive knowledge of and experience with office administration and management, including the ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities
  5. Experience with managing large scale events
  6. Demonstrated experience exercising discretion and judgment in the management of confidential matters. Ability to independently resolve problems, and represent supervisor regarding administrative detail and procedures
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals including faculty, staff, students, University administrators, and external constituents
  8. Experience using MS Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in English, communications, management, or a related field
  2. Master's degree
  3. Experience with the accreditation processes
  4. Evidence writing, designing, editing, and publicizing internal and external communications and reports
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  6. Experience developing and managing databases

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is a full-time, 12-month position located at the Storrs campus and includes full benefits. The starting salary is low- to mid-fifties.
