Job Description

The Lynch School Reporting and Systems Manager (Systems and Data Analyst) is responsible for supporting the technical and operational systems, as well as the data management and reporting needs for academic and administrative areas of the Lynch School of Education, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Practicum and Induction Experiences, and Assessment and Accreditation. The Reporting and Systems Manager must be able to work both independently and as a team member, and also have the ability to manage project teams.

Responsibilities include serving as the Lynch School liaison with IT and/or vendors for all new software development life cycles and data management processes. This includes representing Lynch School academic and administrative units and communicating work flows, reporting, and systems maintenance needs. This often will also include acting as a final level of support for Lynch School users of University systems, providing functional support and maintenance for the various Lynch School systems. The Data and Systems Analyst also serves as the data steward for all applicant and student-related data within Lynch School, working with the application CRM, SIS, and other administrative unit outside vendors (e.g., Practicum Placement Software, Student Services and Advising Software) to meet the ongoing and ad hoc reporting needs of the Lynch School. Additionally, this position will partner with Information Technology Services on all University-wide systems-related endeavors.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $74,350 to $92,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

* Advanced degree in computer science or other relevant discipline

* Minimum of five years of experience in reporting and data management, application support, designing and implementing relational databases, and project management
* Ability to develop technical solutions for complex business processes and for information needs. Technical solutions may include writing ad hoc SQL queries and Oracle SQL code to produce complex reports in an Oracle database environment. Other solutions may require work in FileMaker Pro, SPSS, and/or Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
* Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements, identify and understand complex technology challenges and have the ability to collect and synthesize supporting data, present options and recommend solutions
* Experience with analyzing business requirements and selecting applications that meet specifications and deadlines

* Ensure data integrity and accuracy by reconciling data discrepancies between different data sources
* Ability to articulate/ communicate results in a variety of forums, i.e., summarize and synthesize key findings
* Ability to lead and/or participate in cross functional teams both inside and outside of the Lynch School

* Strong conceptualization ability, strong visual communication ability

* Experience in assisting with operational support and complex problem solving requirements

* Experience managing critical issues and with escalation procedures to resolve project, design, and/or production issues

* Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality of all data at all times

* Familiarity with Boston College systems (e.g., Slate, Oracle, Apex, FileMaker Pro) is preferred

* Occasional evening or weekend work
