Within a shared services framework, the (Senior) Financial Analyst & Grant Administrator provides financial management, reporting and analysis support across all funds for designated departments, institutes and centers. The successful candidate will also provide high-level support for proposal development and pre-award and post-award grant administration to academic centers, institutes and individual units reporting directly to the Office of the Provost as well as evaluation and oversight of the University core facility programs. This position will work closely with the Executive Director of Research Infrastructure to evaluate existing core facilities, and develop and implement an integrated plan for research infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities include:

Financial Management and Analyses


  • Manage the overall budgeting and financial operations of core facilities.
    Ensure that only allowable costs in accordance with federal regulations
    (e.g. Uniform Guidance, A-133, etc.) are included in core facility expense budgets.

  • Assist in the evaluation of existing cores and potential new core facilities.

  • Assist in the business planning and financial modeling of new core facilities (recharge centers).

  • Assist in the development of a strategic plan for the core facility program.



Grant Management


  • Manage grants according to federal regulations (e.g. Uniform Guidance, A-133, etc.), sponsor and institutional guidelines. Monitor budgets to assure compliance with sponsor terms and conditions as well as University policies and assist with reviewing monthly financial statements and communicating compliance policies.

  • Review, approve and monitor monthly expenditures to ensure the award is spent in a timely
    manner and will not have a deficit; prepare documents for cost transfers
    and personnel redistributions. Establish and monitor cost shares.

  • Provide financial projections, data and budgetary reports to PIs to support proper financial oversight. Work with PIs on issues related to compliance and reporting.



Hiring Range:
Senior Level: $61,400-$76,750
Non-Senior Level: $55,600-$69,500

Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Senior level: 5 years of professional level experience working with sponsored research proposals and budgets.

  • Non-senior level: 1 year of professional and/or non-exempt grant experience.

  • Expertise with contract and grant management procedures and federal agency regulations (e.g. Uniform Guidance, A-133, etc.).

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and analysis.

  • Knowledge of GAAP principles/year-end accrual accounting, fiscal accounting systems and knowledge of cost accounting.

  • Strong computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel and knowledge of other Microsoft office applications.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team based, deadline driven and continuous improvement environment.

  • Previous experience in a customer service environment; demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.

  • Experience using PeopleSoft financials or a comparable application is desirable.

  • Experience working in a higher education institution is preferred.
