Job Summary
Conduct research to understand how the brain functions and how the brain affects the heart in normal and abnormal states in mammals. Write and publish scholarly research papers. Build applications interfacing with hardware to acquire and process bio-signals for detecting cardiac arrhythmias in real time to improve clinical diagnosis, especially for stroke patients. Develop a user-friendly toolbox with graphical interface to assist researchers in analyzing cardiac arrhythmias in patients with sleep apnea.

Responsibilities*
This individual will help to coordinate day-to-day operations of the lab including purchasing, training and supervision of new lab members in proper equipment operation and specialized laboratory techniques. This individual must be able to work independently, maintain complete and accurate experimental records and effectively develop new assays and technology for the laboratory when needed. The successful candidate will co-author publications and scientific abstracts and assist the PI in writing IBC and UCUCA protocols and grant proposals.

Required Qualifications*
Master's degree and 4 to 5 years related experience. Supervisory and financial management experience preferred. Employees in this classification arerequired to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position. Employees typicallyanalyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction,within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to asubstantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level,salary basis, and duties tests.

Background Screening
