Description
The College of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites visionary leaders to apply for a newly created director position for a Bachelor of Applied Science program on information technology, with the successful applicant starting Spring 2020. The Program Director serves full-time with rank appropriate to the applicant's experience. The College is developing a new, accelerated information technology program in partnership with industry with the projected start date for the program of Fall 2021.
The Program Director will be a strong advocate for the program, performing tasks as a principal administrator and faculty member as well as providing exceptional leadership and academic instruction to faculty and staff in the development of the program. The Program Director oversees the academic/programmatic components of the program and reports to the Dean. Responsibilities include:
Coordinate curricular changes to align with program objectives
Oversee day-to-day operation, supervision and evaluation of the program
Teach undergraduate information technology courses in the program and supervise instructors in the program
Advise students in the program
Provide service to the department, school, college, university and professional organization(s)
Work with the Office of Admissions and industry partners in the recruitment and retainment of students into the program
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty and staff within and across disciplines
Develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships, activities and communication with industry partners
Qualifications
Successful candidates will meet the following requirements:
Demonstrated record of leadership and the ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents and stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in discipline-specific teaching
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Master of Science degree in Computer Science or related field
Industry experience in computer science, IT, information security or related field
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the requirements above, preferred candidates will have:
Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Extensive industry experience, including high-impact leadership roles
Experience as a Program Director or in an equivalent position
