Job Description

The Operations Coordinator (Marching Band) is a 15-hour per week, 4-month position (August through November) responsible for managing the non-musical aspects of Marching Band operations, including preparation and management of the physical resources necessary for rehearsals and performances; the distribution, collection, maintenance, and repair of equipment, and accurate and timely record keeping of equipment inventories (uniforms, instruments, accessories, etc.). Additional time required during Band Camp in August.

The Ops Coordinator works closely with the Marching Band Director, the Assistant Director of Bands for Operations, and the other area coordinators to maintain a manual of standard operating procedures for rehearsals and performances; coordinates rehearsal and performance resource needs with other instructional staff members; provides support during rehearsals and performances for adequate water and other health and safety related resources; and ensures the highest level of performance from the Band members through effective and efficient operations management.

The Ops Coordinator also analyzes the operational resource needs of the Marching Band and makes recommendations where resources are lacking; defines, in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Bands, the responsibilities of the student managers; supervises and manages a team of student managers; and provides timely and effective feedback to the student managers.
