Description

This position is responsible for implementing a comprehensive marketing plan to increase understanding and awareness of services and programs for Campus Life units (Housing and Residence Life and Campus Recreation). The position will collaborate with other staff in the department and the Division of Marketing and Communication to produce marketing materials that highlight the value of Housing and Residence Life. This position leads in the creation, planning, strategic direction, management, implementation, and assessment of the department. This includes conceptualizing and producing high-quality and high impact print electronic materials for publication, web, and social media.

Design/Planning
  • Develop a brand identity in alignment with the University's branding initiatives, graphics standards and style guides.
  • In collaboration with Housing and Campus Recreation leadership teams and the Division of Marketing and Communications, develop communication strategies and materials to promote programs and services as well as keep current and prospective students informed of department's updates and activities.
  • Create programs and activities designed to recruit, engage, and retain students to live and play on campus.
  • Create electronic and printed publications, fliers, brochures, displays, video, emails, annual reports, promotional items, digital ads, signage, and presentations.
  • Serve as an editor to departments' website using Drupal web content management system. Willingness to learn any new system required by the university.
  • Create and maintain an annual marketing, outreach, and promotions calendar to track deadlines and coordinate among the department and the Division of Marketing and Communication.
  • Track marketing and communication expenditures. 8. Responsible for knowledge, implementation and proficiency in key and current software and technology tools available for use in media processing and graphic design.

Social Media
  • Manage and oversee the departments' social media presence.
  • Craft original daily content and monitor conversations on multiple platforms in an effort to increase followers and engagement.
  • Manage separate, distinct online communities on multiple social media platforms.
  • Monitor metrics and trends to analyze the impact and effectiveness of efforts.
  • Develop advertising, campaigns and/or graphics for social media efforts.
  • Research and stay current in ideas and trends in using social media for managing crisis situations.
  • Dedicate daily account management on multiple social media properties.
  • Respond to questions and complaints from the University's constituents in a timely fashion.
  • Remain flexible and nimble regarding fluctuation in work hours and duties.
  • Monitor and respond on the University's social media platforms, this requires 24/7 activities.

Recruitment
  • Assist in the coordination of Operation Move-In.
  • Assist with admissions recruiting events (may require travel).
  • May assist with campus tours.

Assessment
  • In collaboration with Enrollment Management and Housing assessment committees as well as the Division of Marketing and Communication, perform market research, surveys, and focus groups to gather customer feedback, improve satisfaction and build marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor metrics and trends to analyze the impact and effectiveness of efforts.
  • Other duties assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Must possess a solid background and demonstrated experience, knowledge, and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media websites; have the ability and vision to combine art, design and creative skills to develop ideas and produce original and effective visual images for a wide range of products; knowledge of and experience with website design; experience and ability in a variety of graphic mediums including photography; knowledge in programming languages such as Java, PHP, and HTML; must have the ability to be effective in communication with a wide range of people; excellent and effective written and spoken communication are key.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, or communication; must have 1-3 years of experience as a graphic designer producing print and digital materials; must have a portfolio to show proof of work (must include with application materials); must have excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, Acrobat Professional, and Dreamweaver); strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as Drupal web content management system or similar program; ability to take an idea from concept to design/illustration and publication/release and distribution; skillful in creative conception; must have the ability to help the department communicate accurate and effective information to their respective constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in related field; advanced knowledge of social media advertising and marketing; and experience in higher education.
