Job Description

The Director of Advancement Communications and Marketing oversees the strategic operations of a team that includes campaign management, content strategy, creative services, and digital engagement. Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement Engagement & Communications, the Director manages the resources and teams responsible for communicating philanthropic impact and alumni engagement to a variety of audiences across platforms ranging from digital and direct mail to custom print proposals and collateral. The Director has experience in developing metrics and tools to evaluate effectiveness of marketing campaigns and engagement efforts, and can lead both day-to-day operations as well as driving a big picture vision of success for the team.

Primary Duties:
  • Manages four different verticals within the team: digital, content, creative, and campaign management, and focuses on increasing efficiencies between each group, as well as fostering staff engagement, growth, and skill development
  • Partners closely with leaders throughout University Advancement, including Stewardship, Events, Annual Giving, Alumni Engagement, and Frontline fundraisers, to best support to serve the needs of the organization
  • Leads the project management and coordination of complicated cross-team initiatives and signature events, such as Pops on the Heights, from convening stakeholders to executing against deadlines involving multiple resources and teams
  • Oversees the budget for the Communications and Marketing enterprise, including establishing allocations strategically aligned with the priorities of University Advancement
  • Ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and prioritize workflow and resources
  • Establishes evaluation tools and framework that provide insights into larger trends happening across our platforms and campaigns, helping to drive strategies around segmentation, messaging, and resource deployment
  • Provide consultation to internal and external partners on what services might best achieve their communications, marketing, and engagement objectives
  • Ensure projects driven by Advancement Communications and Marketing are executed on time and at the highest quality possible.

    Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $118,850 to $148,550; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

    Requirements

    This position requires a minimum of five years of experience leading a Communications team, preferably in a development-related environment. The ideal candidate has integrity, strong management experience, proven ability to prioritize under pressure, and can seamlessly adapt to changes in direction. Must be a leader who is highly motivated and able to motivate others, dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education, and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.

    A Bachelor's degree is required.
