Specific Responsibilities:



Provides strong leadership in developing campus-wide initiatives in the areas of programming, engagement, outreach, assessment and leadership development. Work with students with academic challenges to expedite referrals to campus resources to enhance retention and success. Develops identity-based themed programming for students including but not limited to: Black History Month, MLK Jr. Day, National Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBTQIA + History Month, National Coming Out Day, World AIDS Day, National Women's Herstory Month, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, International Transgender Day of Visibility, Jewish American Heritage Month, Juneteenth and National Native American Heritage Month.



  • Collects data, assess goals, and reports outcomes of diversity and inclusion programs and services to campus constituencies annually.
  • Identifies and administers Strength-Based training modules for students to enhance student retention.
  • Work as assigned 1-1 with students on academic probation to access on-campus resources to enhance College retention efforts.
  • Supports large Campus programming and outreach including New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Spring Day, Student Leader recruitment and development, Commencement, etc.
  • Supports and mentors the College's diverse student population by engaging in meaningful and developmental interactions with students.
  • As assigned collaborates with Center for Equity and Cultural Wealth, the Chief Diversity and Equity Official, College Events, and Affinity Group Programs to plan and implement initiatives to create a welcoming, equitable and inclusive campus environment that supports student learning and growth.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Student Activities and provides leadership for the development and implementation of programs to enhance students' learning regarding equity and cultural wealth.
  • Reaches out to students who re-enter the college to connect them with engagement opportunities and resources.
  • Actively collaborates with Advising(LifeMap) and the retention Target X tool, Institutional Effectiveness, the DISH food pantry, Single Stop, and Financial Aid.
  • Serve as an advocate for student engagement and inclusion through frequent attendance and high visibility at campus and community programs, events, and activities.
  • Recruits, hires, trains and supervises student employees to assist with orientation, outreach, retention and create an inclusive student programming board; responsible for weekly meetings, managing programming budget, overseeing program planning and implementation, facilitating recruitment, selection and onboarding processes and developing trainings and professional development opportunities.
  • Creates a formal leadership program for student employees for the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement.
  • Performs related administrative duties, assignments, or special projects as required.
  • Utilizes identity development theories to inform student program development, alignment with Institutional Learning Outcomes and the College's mission.
  • Conducts periodic campus climate assessments to illuminate strengths, challenges, and gaps in the development and advancements of an equitable, inclusive climate for diversity.
  • Propose proactive solutions for improving student success of all underrepresented students.


Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates on College committees as needed. Performs other related duties as required/assigned.



Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Leadership, Social Justice, Education or related field.
  • Six years of direct student affairs experience including student activity planning,/coordination; leadership development, and student orientation
  • Able to provide support, timely feedback and clear communication to all staff.
  • Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities including ethnicity, race, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and veterans' status as well as those with different levels of academic preparation, physical and learning abilities.
  • Competent in MS Word, Outlook and social media communication.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Student Affairs, Higher Education, or Social Justice.
  • Experience working with students 1-1 and in small groups to enhance academic retention.


Additional Information:

Salary Range: $54,956.00 - $65,000.00. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education & Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full state Benefits.
