Primary Duties:
Position available for one year from date of hire with the possibility of renewal.
Working independently, under general direction, the Catalog & Academic Publications Editor is responsible for the creation and maintenance of large scale, complex publishing projects, administered by Academic Publications & Scheduling Services (APSS), including the University Catalog and Academic Calendar. This position is responsible for all production activities and the incorporation of graphics into these publications, which requires the incumbent to make technical decisions related to the presentation and production of these materials. Additional responsibilities include the administration of the campus Directory and the APSS web site, coordination of annual production cycles, advising offices and departments on layout and content of publications, editing materials for coherence, clarity, and consistency of format, including consistency with University publication and writing style requirements, and serving as a resource to campus for these publications.

Required Education:

Entry to the first level within this classification requires one to two years of related work experience or equivalent training and experience, and the ability to effectively use applicable software tools and features to create a variety of printed materials and presentations. This background normally would be achieved through formal training or coursework with desktop publishing and graphic software packages.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Must be able to identify and distinguish colors and travel across campus to other offices and buildings for meetings and events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a typical office environment operating computers and other standard business office equipment. This position involves a high level of interaction with staff and faculty throughout the academic year with several significant peaks during each semester. The position involves interaction with campus administrative offices, various campus-wide service providers and other personnel within the CSU system, including the Chancellors office and off-campus software providers. Meetings may be held at both on and off campus locations.
