Job Description

The Associate Director of Instructional Media manages all forms of media production as part of the Center for Digital Learning at Boston College. Primary responsibilities include managing and participating in all phases of producing high quality media, including audio and video, photography, animation, graphic design, and web design. The qualified applicant will demonstrate substantial skill in several of these digital media disciplines. Candidates should also have extensive knowledge of media production software and technologies, as well as strong project management and personnel management skills.

The Associate Director of Instructional Media also works directly with faculty members to design innovative instructional tools and techniques, manages projects, supports other team members on faculty projects, and manages production requirements on a demanding timeline that respects the academic calendar.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree (Master's preferred).

Candidate must have 4-5 years of experience in the field, excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to manage projects and other team members, and the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. Staying current with new and emerging technologies in digital media fields essential. Knowledge and experience with accessibility standards is mandatory. Experience in higher education highly desired, as is relevant management experience. Must have deep experience with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in digital media production. The ideal candidate will have:
  • Familiarity with both PC and Mac platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design and digital photography
  • Excellent videography and video editing skills
  • Experience producing animations
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, including Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Familiarity with learning management systems
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
