Job Description

The Assistant/Associate Director, Alumni Affinity Programs is responsible for the cultivation, recognition, stewardship, and volunteer management of several high profile Alumni Affinity Councils, including the Alumni Arts Circle, LGBTQ+ Alumni Council, West Coast Technology and Entrepreneurship Council, and the Gabelli Presidential Scholars Alumni Council. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Affinity Programs, the Assistant/Associate Director provides programming guidance for the Councils as well as stewardship for all Council members, including working closely with the Council's leadership, many of whom are Trustees and significant donors to the University, in addition to planning and overseeing each Council's annual meetings. The Assistant/Associate Director also develops outreach programs for the broader alumni population with targeted interests in the areas relative to their portfolio, and works with Regional Engagement to cultivate their interests in and connection to Boston College. In addition, the position will serve as the primary liaison with Advancement Information Systems, Programs & Events, and Advancement Communications & Marketing teams in partnering to meet goals for engagement and participation. The Assistant/Associate Director also helps to prioritize the goals of each Council as well as assisting the Director to evaluate competing programming priorities. Also works with the Director on the development of new alumni networks and councils and assessing their viability.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Assistant Director: minimum 1 year of alumni relations, event planning, development or other related work experience: $46,550- $58,200
Second Level Assistant Director, one to three years professional level alumni relations experience or a combination of alumni relations and directly related work experience: $51,350 - $64,200
Associate Director, minimum 3-5 three to five years professional level experience working in alumni relations programs: $56,700 - $70,900

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and for the entry level Assistant Director, a minimum of one year of alumni relations, event planning, development or other related work experience; the next level Assistant Director requires a minimum of one to three years professional level alumni relations experience or a combination of alumni relations and directly related work experience, such as event planning or development; the Associate Director requires a minimum of three to five years professional level experience working in alumni relations programs, preferable in an institution of higher education engaged in a capital campaign. Experience working with diverse populations and shared identity groups is preferred but not required.

In addition, this position requires exceptional interpersonal, customer service, oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide the detailed planning and budget management necessary to ensure that events and programs are cost-effective and break-even. To be successful, must have the ability to manage volunteers in a fast paced environment. Some travel and occasional evening and weekend work is required to meet job responsibilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and desktop publishing is expected, familiarity with Millennium, or other alumni software, is strongly preferred. Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.
