Basic Function:
The Systems Engineering Program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is seeking a Tenured/Tenure-Track faculty member at the Assistant/ Associate or Full Professor level. Research areas of interest include systems engineering topics related to; data sciences, cyber-physical systems and cyber security, security systems, robotic systems, secure architecture, MBSE, military applications, systems thinking, self-organization of complex systems, system dependability, system optimization, software metrics, engineering, and quality factors, advanced manufacturing systems, and manufacturing systems engineering. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of accomplishments in SE research and program leadership and will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, teach graduate courses, provide program leadership to the faculty and students.

We are seeking an academic leader with a vision to continue the growth of the department by advancing our undergraduate and graduate programs, growing our research strengths and capabilities, fostering interactions with industry and government funding agencies, and developing interdisciplinary programs.

Candidates with a PhD in SE or a closely related field should have demonstrated leadership in academic program development in conjunction with a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching, and areas that align with WPI's strategic plan.

The Systems Engineering Department at WPI has 6 full-time faculty and is supported by nearly a dozen more adjunct faculty who are expert professionals in selected areas of Systems Engineering. The program offers a small number of undergraduate courses, as well as a full complement of graduate courses leading to the MS and Ph.D. in Systems Engineering. The successful candidate will join with the other program faculty in teaching graduate courses and advising Ph.D. students, while continuing to develop and instruct at the undergraduate level.
