Assistant Professor, Public Administration/Nonprofit Management, Dept. of Political Science

Department Summary:
The Political Science Department at Bridgewater State University houses one of three the NASPAA Accredited Master of Public Administration programs in the state of Massachusetts. The departments faculty members are dedicated to the highest standards of teaching, scholarship and professional, university and community service. The undergraduate program offers degrees in four concentrations including international affairs, public administration, American politics and legal studies while the MPA program offers a concentration in civic and nonprofit leadership. We are looking for faculty who are committed to helping the department achieve future growth.

Two-thirds of our students are first-generation college students, students of color, and/or Pell Grant recipients; BSU is committed to the achievement of academic excellence by students from diverse backgrounds. BSU is primarily a teaching institution with ample opportunity for research (especially in collaboration with students). Internal funds are available for faculty scholarship and professional travel.

Essential Duties:
The Political Science Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin in the fall semester of 2018 at the level of assistant professor. This is an open field search but the successful candidate will be expected to teach courses on Nongovernmental Organizations, Nonprofit Management, Interest Groups and Introduction to American Government. An ability to teach other graduate courses in the departments Master of Public Administration Program would be an asset.

Required Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D., commitment to teaching excellence, and evidence of scholarly activity in the field of political science, public administration, nonprofit management or public policy are required.

Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching and advising, and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. They should also have an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, the ability to work collaboratively, evidence of scholarly activity, and a commitment to public higher education.
