The Faculty Diversity Officer is a new and unique position which serves as the lead strategist on the complex task of attracting, selecting, onboarding, and supporting the lasting success of a diverse community of faculty, especially those from underrepresented groups. This position was created in response to our campus' commitment to sustainable change in the diversity of our faculty. This commitment is made permanent in our 2018-2023 Campus Strategic Plan where we have established institutional goals devoted to the purpose. We are looking for a skilled professional to join our team at the outset of our work toward this goal and help us to build the needed structures to realize our vision.

Reporting to the AVP for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity, the position will work closely with key campus partners including the Provost's Office staff, deans, associate deans, and search committees. In addition to developing and implementing a focused recruitment and onboarding strategy, this position is also responsible for defining and tracking diversity metrics as well as having oversight for our annual workforce diversity reporting to external bodies.

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the intricacies of the faculty search and RTP processes, all from an equity-minded lens. This unique combination of expertise can be acquired by serving in academic administrative roles, service in a diversity office tasked with faculty diversity, or working directly with faculty affairs matters.

Essential Qualifications:
Master's Degree in related field and five years of progressive related experience.

Experience with retention and promotion policies, professional development, and assessment. Experience with, and knowledge of basic faculty personnel transactions (e.g., recruitments and appointments, leaves, etc.). Understands faculty policy development and shared governance.

Ability to make objective analyses of current academic personnel management problems, experience with academic employee relations and
collective bargaining.

Familiarity with equal employment opportunity and affirmative action practices, including developing and implementing affirmative action plans.

Proficiency in compiling and analyzing workforce diversity data.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Special Working Conditions:
California State University, Fullerton celebrates all forms of diversity and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment within which students, staff, administrators and faculty thrive. Individuals interested in advancing the Universitys strategic diversity goals are strongly encouraged to apply. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for qualified applicants with disabilities who self-disclose.

Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.

Online application/resume must be received by electronic submission on the final filing date by 9:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time)/midnight (Eastern Standard Time). Applicants who fail to complete all sections of the online application form will be disqualified from consideration.
