Arizona State University, invites nominations and applications of an established academic for the position of Director of the School of Social Work, with a term commencing July 1, 2014. The School of Social Work (https://ssw.asu.edu/) has accredited BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. programs with more than 1,370 students and 48 faculty members. It is one of four schools and eleven centers, including the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center and the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy in the College of Public Programs (https://copp.asu.edu/). The School is a leader in the areas of culturally competent practice, particularly with regard to populations of the southwest, and health disparities. It is a vibrant community of active scholars who are committed to excellence in education, located at the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus, home to 19, 041 students, and close to many government and nonprofit partners.

Under President Michael Crows leadership, ASU has undergone profound institutional transformation. Committed to a strategy of social embededness, ASU has adopted a progressive plan emphasizing access and financial aid, and excellence in solutions-oriented research. The School of Social Work and the College of Public Programs are important parts of the Universitys social transformation agenda.

The Director joins the leadership team of the College of Public Programs, has general executive responsibility for all aspects of the Schools activities, and is accountable on all matters to the faculty, the Dean of the College of Public Programs, and the central administration of Arizona State University. The Director of the School of Social Work is appointed by the Executive Vice President and Provost of Arizona State University, acting upon the recommendation of the Schools faculty and the Dean of the College of Public Programs. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

We seek an individual with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching; accomplishment and innovation in scholarship, administration, professional work, and community engagement; commitment to diversity and student success is essential. An interest in the Southwest and its many diverse communities is desirable. The successful candidate will be able to work in and be committed to a multicultural academic and community environment. Earned doctorate in Social Work from an accredited institution or an allied related field. Present faculty rank of full professor is desirable, although associate professors will also be considered.
